Welcome note

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the ISSLS Executibe Board, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 55th Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS), taking place from 24–28 April 2028, in Berlin, Germany.

This annual meeting represents one of the most important international forums dedicated to advancing knowledge in lumbar spine research and clinical care. The scientific program has been carefully designed to reflect the breadth and depth of current research, combining basic science, translational studies, and clinical innovation. We are confident that the high scientific quality of the sessions, lectures, and discussions will stimulate inspiring exchanges, critical thinking, and meaningful collaboration among researchers and clinicians from all over the world.

We are particularly delighted to welcome participants from many different countries and disciplines, underlining the global relevance and interdisciplinary nature of lumbar spine research. The ISSLS Annual Meeting provides a unique opportunity to share ideas, build networks, and shape the future direction of our field together.

Berlin offers an outstanding setting for an event of this scope and international importance. As a vibrant scientific hub and one of Europe’s most dynamic cities, Berlin combines a rich medical and academic tradition with cultural diversity, history, and modern innovation. We hope you will not only benefit from the scientific program, but also take the opportunity to experience the city’s unique atmosphere, world-class museums, and lively cultural scene.

We look forward to welcoming you personally to Berlin in 2028 and to an inspiring and productive meeting.

With kind regards,
Hans Jörg Meisel & Hans-Joachim Wilke
